Molded and Cut

A painting exists as a skin or surface. A sculpture is a thing. An object in relation to its maker and/or viewer. It has an existence. Sculpture creates an encounter.

These pieces begin with the idea of the figure. The result of an engagement with the material as it embodies a figure while as it continues to exist as material. It partakes of imminence and emergence.

An object-in-the-round creates a tension between what is visible and what is imminent. The human figure brings emotional dimensions into play.
